Last week, I posted my Easiest Headband tutorial. Today, I'm going to share my Easy Fabric Headband tutorial (not the "easiest", but still super simple!") Just like the one I shared last week, this is a great baby gift! Pearl has been enjoying hers!
You will need some fabric (this is a great project for scraps!), thin elastic, rotary cutter or scissors and a ruler and cutting mat if you have one.
My measurements are approximate. This headband is a bit too big for Pearl and she is 2 months old, so if you are making this for a baby gift, this size will work. Or, you could just measure a baby's head or use a different headband as a guide.
Cut the fabric in a strip. Mine was about 13X2.25 inches.
Turn it right sides together and sew 1/4 inch seam.
Turn it right side out. A trick for this is to pin a safety pin to one end and use that to push it through itself. It makes it quick and painless!
Top stitch if you desire. I think it makes it look a little more finished, but you could definitely leave this step out. Oh, and don't forget to iron it so that it's nice and flat.
Turn edges under and slip the piece of elastic into one end and sew shut. My elastic was about 2.5 inches long.
Repeat for the other end so that you now have a circle headband!
You could just leave it like this or add an embellishment. I had an extra felt flower lying around, so I attached this with a needle and thread. A few flower would look adorable, but I just kept this one simple with one. You could also attach the simple flowers from my easiest headband tutorial.
And you are done!
The possibilities are endless with these headbands. I love them and so does Pearl!
